Canon’s RF 28-70mm f/2L lens is absolutely spectacular, but it is likely overkill both in terms of size and price for a lot of photographers and videographers, who would rather opt for a more standard 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. Luckily, the company makes that exact lens, the RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM, and this great video review takes a look at the kind of performance you can expect from it in practice.
Coming to you from Dustin Abbott, this excellent video review takes a look at the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM lens. Canon’s RF 28-70mm f/2L lens certainly turned a ton of heads when it was released, but it is also an absolute behemoth and a highly expensive optic. While the RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM certainly is not cheap either, it does undercut the 28-70mm f/2L by about $700, plus you get additional benefits like a wider focal length range, image stabilization, and a smaller footprint, all important factors for a range of photographers, particularly someone like a wedding shooter, who needs a lighter lens that is comfortable to carry all day and likely would prefer having the ability to shoot at 24mm for tight venue spaces. Check out the video above for Abbott’s full thoughts on the lens.
