How Range Masks Can Make Editing Photos in Lightroom Easier

One of Lightroom’s most useful features for making your editing process both easier and more efficient is the range mask tool. If you have not tried it before, this great video will show you how to use color, luminance, and depth range masks and how they make editing easier.

Coming to you from Anthony Morganti, this excellent video will show you how to use Lightroom’s range masks for editing. Range masks are named because they allow you to create a mask based on a range of values, whether that is based on luminosity values, specific colors, or depth in the image. This is great, for example, if you want to edit the sky in a landscape image. Instead of trying to draw in a complicated mask around tree leaves and branches, you can just use a luminosity mask to hone in on the brighter values of the sky, saving you a lot of time. I frequently use them for just this purpose. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Morganti.
