Is This Bizarre Canon Camera Worth Buying?

The Canon PowerShot ZOOM is quite the unique camera, designed to be used like a monocular and packing a supertelephoto zoom lens in its small body. How does it hold up in practice? This great video review takes a look at what it is like to use and the sort of images and video you can get from it.

Coming to you from DPReview TV, this great video review takes a look at the unique Canon PowerShot ZOOM camera. The PowerShot ZOOM is quite the strange camera, designed and operated almost like a mini camcorder or a monocular. The bummer about it, however, is low image quality. Personally, I am a bit disappointed to see that the image quality on the PowerShot ZOOM is rather lacking, as I find its different design quite interesting. With a better sensor and lens, it looks like it could a very pocketable and naturally ergonomic camera that could be great for a wide variety of applications — sporting events or hikes, for example. Seeing as this is the first generation of the camera, perhaps down the road, we will see a more capable version that keeps the same interesting design while adding a larger sensor and better lens. Check out the video above for the full rundown on this fascinating camera.
